HTN Communications, LLC, the leading provider of sports television transmissions services in North America, unveiled a new state-of-the-art Technical Operations Center (TOC) in their New York City headquarters in early 2009.
The completion of the new fiber optic transmission facility features rapid, end-to-end provisioning for on-network locations using advanced NGOSS capabilities designed specifically for media.
The construction of the multi-million dollar network enables clients of HTN Communications transmission access from every Major League Baseball (MLB), National Basketball Association (NBA), and National Hockey League (NHL) sports venue in the United States.
The extensive North American fiber distribution network was selected to house the inaugural season of the Major League Baseball Network (MLBN), which recently launched in January of 2009. HTN Communications will be responsible for over 2,400 live HD broadcasts for the MLBN this year.
“The resources that HTN implemented will allow clients to send various bidirectional transmission feeds from nearly any sports venue in the country.” HTN Communications CEO Joseph Cohen stated. “This access will help bridge the gap between current media organizations and new technology emerging in the industry.”
In July, the new facility reached another achievement, as HTN Communications provided transmission services to ESPN for the 2009 Major League Baseball All-Star Festivities, including the Home Run Derby, showcasing its seamless “point-to-multipoint” high definition transmissions. More high-profile events are planned to be announced in the near future.
